Bush sunny on economy, despite transition "nerves"
Washington-AP
-- President Bush is voicing new optimism on the economy, even
though he acknowledges a "time of transition" is making
lots of workers worry.
Speaking to the Hispanic Chamber
of Commerce in Washington, the president said he knows it's "not
easy" for workers when the economy's changing. He says, "Transition
unsettles the nerves."
However, Bush pointed to increasing
growth rates, low inflation and high homeownership as signs the
economy is looking up.
And he insisted his Democratic
foe's plans to scrap some tax cuts would halt that rebound in
its tracks.
Bush spoke on the eve of two
days of political travel that'll take him to New Hampshire, Massachusetts,
New Mexico and Arizona.
